Rollie Clarkson
Rollie Clarkson founded his first remodeling company, RC Construction, in 1985, having grown up in his family’s construction business. In the mid-1990s, he expanded RC Construction into the insurance and restoration industry and purchased a franchise called Remodeling Contractors and Cleaning Services (RCCS). The company quickly grew into one of the top remodeling firms in the country. After successfully building the franchise for several years, Rollie formed an independent company with a focused new name: Remodeling Contractors.
Fleming Construction
Fleming Construction was founded in 2001 by Zak Fleming, who set out to build a remodeling company guided by a clear set of core values he believed should define the industry. That philosophy evolved into the Theory of Remodeltivity — the guiding principle behind how the company operates today.
In 2018, Marc Black — a veteran with nearly 20 years in the remodeling industry — became a partner in Fleming Construction. Looking to expand the business, Marc and Zak sought like-minded professionals to fill key roles throughout the company. Discovering that many qualified candidates already ran their own businesses, they set their sights on small business owners across the remodeling and design world, working to build a company culture that could support their talents.
Guided by these core values, six individual companies joined under the Fleming Construction banner: Imagine Interior Art and Design, founded in 1999 by Donna Alley; TechBuilders of Iowa LLC, owned by Scott Spetman since 2014; DB Building, founded by Duane Berner in 2007; and Heartland Gallery West, founded by Hal Lueder in 1980. In 2020, Remodeling Contractors merged with Fleming Construction, becoming the seventh firm to join the team and introducing a new brand that reflects the cooperative spirit we share.
Express Handyman Services
In early 2020, the team at Remodeling Contractors recognized the need for a reliable, timely handyman service and created Express Handyman to fill that gap.
Together, the Remodeling Contractors family delivers a collaborative, professional, and efficient process, grounded in the integrity the company was founded on.
